Your compassion not only makes it possible to rehabilitate vulnerable dogs in our care, in preparation for new forever homes, but it also allows us to reach those in need elsewhere. Whether it's because their owners are experiencing homelessness, they're caught up in the illegal smuggling trade, or their life is at risk in a pound, there is always work to be done, but it wouldn’t be possible without you.
Your support is vital to dogs like Patches. This poor boy was found as a stray, frightened and hungry. We don’t know how long he was alone for, but he must have been so worried, not to mention in pain. It turns out that Patches also has a number of health conditions that without regular management can cause sever problems. He was at serious risk.
It’s only because of your kindness that we were able to take Patches into our care and show him the compassion and affection he had yet to experience, but this comes at a cost.
A gift today can provide dogs who have nowhere else to turn, the safety and medical attention they desperately need.
Once in our care, our vet team ran the necessary blood tests needed to determine Patches health and what treatment he might require. Unfortunately, Patches has something called Leishmania, a parasitic infection that if left untreated can cause significant joint inflammation, muscle and nerve pain as well as cracked skin. Without intervention Patches would have seriously suffered. That’s why your support is so important. Regular blood tests help to manage his symptoms and ensure that he is comfortable which can be costly.
Eventually Patches did find a loving home, and we were over the moon for him. But sadly his owner became too ill to care for Patches any longer and had no choice but to return him to our care where, with your support, dogs like him will always be welcome.
We are doing everything we can to make sure this precious boy has the best possible life, free from pain, but his condition along with some other health issues, like IBS and a heart murmur, means finding him another forever home is more challenging.
We don’t know how long it will take to find Patches his perfect match, but we do know with your support, he will be happy and safe in our care until that time comes.
